FINLAND
ANALYSIS
A population pyramid is a traditional way of visualizing and explaning the age structure of a society. It is a graph that shows the structure of a society by sex and age at a given time and place. The pyramid we are analyzing shows the demographic structure of Finland in 2012.
Observing the sex ratio we can say that there are more boys than girls.Sex ratio matches at 60 to 64 years. When looking at the top of the pyramid it is clear that women have a higher life expentancy than men .The reasons for that might be genetics and the different life style.
With regard to the age structure of the pyramid we can say that it is a DC, a developing country. The shape of the pyramid shows that this country is in in the stage 4. In adittion, the structure of the pyramid exhibit a low birth rate and a low death rate, they are almost the same. The age group with a larger number of people is adults, that means that some years ago people had more clildren than now. There are some irregularities in the profile of the pyramid due to a baby boom after the second world war. The 50-64 interval shows a bump due to that baby boom. There is a notch in the 1993 generation related to the fall of the URSS.
Among the measures that can be applied to deal with the low birth rates we can mention natality incentives. According to the data shown, we can predict that the demographic evolution of Finland will be a declining, decrase in birth rates and in the total population.
